Ellery Lookbook (fall/11)...

Once again, another gem was 'dropped' off in my inbox this morning via trendland...this time, it was the new lookbook for Perth-Born Kym Ellery's new fall 2011 collection...the editorial, entitled Tenenbaums in the Tuileries,” was shot by Paul Empson and modeled by Ashley Smith...it features a mix of soft muted shades along with a surprising pop of blood red, cable-kint tops, wide-leg trousers (a spring favourite of mine), structured dresses and tops along-side some really amazing blazers and textured bell-bottoms...in a word: Gorgeous! Enjoy...
So after drooling over the editorial, I also had to quickly check out the full collection (which can be seen here)...and it did not disappoint...I chose a few of my favourites to share below...hope you like...
How amazing is this jacket? (above)
Lately I have started to develop a somewhat unhealthy obsession with bell sleeves...
(if anyone knows where I can get anything remotely similar to the blazer above, I will be forever grateful)
the detail, the shape, the colour...love it!

Sunday...sunny Sunday...

I am not particularly fond of Sundays...as a matter of fact as a child I think I dreaded Sundays more so than Mondays, because they brought with them the end of the weekend and the promise of school the next day...what can I say, the anticipation of a new school week was worse for me than the actual thing...as I've grown older, that same dislike I had as a kid seemed to follow me...but on this particular Sunday I noticed something...I didn't quite hate it as much as before...could be the sunshine and with it the promise of spring, could be the fact that for the first time in a long time I had no other plans but to relax (at least until the packing and moving frenzy begins)...who knows? I do know one thing for sure, today was actually a fabulous Sunday...
Funny thing is I didn't do anything particularly spectacular, but it was still one of the best days I've had in months...I slept in late, had a delicious breakfast which was prepared for me (happy sigh) and then off to the market we went for some much needed fresh air, sunshine and furniture ogling...with my trusty Nikon in tow, I managed to snap some photos of the hustle and bustle of the Byward Market...enjoy...
...folks enjoying Beaver Tails~funny, I have yet to enjoy one myself...
...dream catchers...dream weavers...
...love the juxtaposition of the old architecture with the modern condo...
...vendors in the sun...
...our delicious lunch at SushiGo...
...enjoying our lunch...
...around the market we go...
...hope you all had a fabulous Sunday...more importantly, hope you all have a fabulous week...

...something calming...something bright...

We officially get the keys to our new house next week and to say that I am excited would be an understatement...realistically I am a jumble of emotions...excited, petrified, nervous, excited again, etc. etc...there is so much still to do (pack) and so much still to take care of (pack) none of which I have seriously contemplated in the last few weeks on account of a crazy busy schedule but also because it didn't seem so real until now...sooo in celebration and anticipation of the big move, I am sharing some fabulous images of a fabulous home which was featured on a fabulous blog: designsponge...
The house belongs to Morgane Sezalory who is the owner and art director of Les Composantes, a "French fashion brand that offers a new creation each month, as well as an exclusive selection of hundreds of vintage items"...
I am absolutely in love with the fresh, bright and calming feel of the space and the lovely little details (particularly all the lovely shoes and the vintage Chanel bag!) that add both warmth and a feel of comfort...this is definitely one HUGE inspiration for my decorating palate in our new home...
Anyway, that's it from me for today...back to work (not packing)...okay who am I kididing, it's more like back to ogling random home design websites for more inspiration...if any of you have any good ones you would like to share, please do so...I would love to expand my online home design search...have a great day everyone...

"minimal baroque" Prada Sunnies Campaign...

Since spring seems to be in the air, I decided to do a post about something that is inherently "sunny" (pun fully intended) and something which signals that warm weather is on its way in while cold weather is (hopefully) on its way OUT! So what better to way to celebrate the sun that is shining than to put on some funky sunnies and stroll outside in the glow? That being said, I came across this creative Prada ad campaign, entitled "minimal baroque" a while ago, but just didn't feel right posting it until now, when the snow is melting away and the birds are chirping...
According to Block Magazine, Prada commissioned several fashion illustrators to translate their sunglasses into pieces of art...Ever the trend-setters, Prada's S/S 2011 campaign features various animated animals and people alike sporting the brand's signature sunnies...As stated by Block: "talented up-and-coming illustrators Ivo Bisignano, Marcela Gutierrez, and Andrea Tarella interpret the bold, elegant frames through pastel and watercolour..." I included some of the illustrations here...enjoy...
Hope you are all enjoying the fabulous weather...happy Thursday everyone...

ARC Hotel: dressing, shooting and the like...

A few weeks ago I was asked by Rania (the wardrobe stylist) to help style a shoot for the ARC Hotel with her this past Saturday (The Arc Hotel is a gorgeous boutique hotel here in the city)...Despite the fact that that was also the weekend of OFW, I could not resist...being in a room full of beautiful clothes and beautiful people~common, who could!
I thought, it would be a great opportunity for me to take some more behind-the-scenes photos like I did here and here, but alas the day was much too busy for any tom-foolery...I did manage to snap a few shots amid the busy schedule, which hopefully depict the overall atmosphere and vibe of the day...I also included some amazing photos of the 3 days photographed by Audrey GC Photographies (who's photos can also be seen here and here)...Overall a pretty neat experience, even if it was stressful sometimes to be in charge of an entire room of clothes and people (not to mention a bit of torture knowing that none of the beautiful garments will be making their way home with you)...
Some shout-outs:

That's it folks...that wraps up my busy busy weekend...I can't complain though, it was fun albeit a whirlwind...plus the sun is shinning today and the snow looks like it's on its way out (for good???)...so you all have yourself a wonderful day while this blogger gets back to the nitty-gritty work of marking papers and writing that horrible comp exam...sigh...it was nice while it lasted...
