Berlin Lovin' ~ Day 1 & 2...

After a 9 hour flight, some mild turbulence, 3 gin and tonics to calm the nerves, and 2 pieces of lost luggage later, we are finally in the city of East and West~Berlin...despite the lost luggage and the minor jet-lag so far the city is everything we imagined it to be and oh so much more...walking down any random street is like walking through a pop art exhibit, complete with bumping base undertones emanating from almost every corner and neon-clothed partyers celebrating to the wee hours of the morning...this city really is a trip...our first day was a bit of a haze, but we did manage to explore the Mitte neighbourhood, which is a trendy student neighbourhood with cafes, bars, art galleries and other cultural dwellings...below are some snapshots of what we saw, walked through and enjoyed...

Day I
Random Graffiti on the streets...

Cinema Cafe & a random alleyway in Mitte Neighbourhood...

Sophienstrasse in Mitte...

Street observations in Mitte...

Gumball machine...because really, who doesn't like gumballs?

Flowers on the street corner...

The best pizza ever in Rosenthaller Cafe and Grill...

CAFE BAR in Mitte...

Paul's Boutique...a nod to the Beastie Boys perhaps?

Photobooth...

The result...

The second day in this amazing city was filled with more walking and exploring...this time through Friedrichshain, where we are staying and the edgy Kreuzberg neighbourhood which is famous for it's vibrant nightlife...with a large Turkish population, this neighbourhood also has some of the yummiest and most diverse restaurants in the city...we managed to take advantage of those-of course...here are some more photos of the day...enjoy...
Day II
Marilyn on a piece of the Berlin Wall...

Andy Warhol's flowers and a neat green chair in Friedrichstein...

Hanging out in Friedrichshain...

Some of the amazing architecture in Friedrichshain...

A shop in Kreuzberg...

Tea and drink menu in Kreuzberg...

Cafe time...

More amazing graffiti in the city...

...and that's what we have been up to in Berlin for the past two days...the next few days also promise to be filled with trips to museums, art galleries, cafes and bars so stay tuned...
