Dresses, Heels and Briefs at War...

Okay, so you are probably wondering what the heck I am talking about~how can pieces of clothing be at war with each other? Well to be honest the title is a little misleading~there was no war and there was definitely no war between dresses, heels and briefs, although I imagine if there was, my money would be on the heels...anyway, what I am talking about is Angie's Showcase, which was held at the War Museum...

Angie's Showcase is an event put on annually, here in Ottawa, that showcases the various models and talent that are all part of the agency, Angie (owner of Angie's Models) flies scouts in from all over the globe in order to expose some of these youngsters to the world...kind of like a giant talent/fashion show audition...anyway it's a great event for a lot of the models to walk the runway for the first time and to be exposed to some of the industry...this year I was filling in for Julie of Popchampagne, who is living it up in Asia at the moment (lucky girl) and although it was fun, I must admit that I really missed my partner in crime (hear that Jules?)...Anyway I did manage to snap some pre-show shots and shots of the backstage happenings as well as the fashion shows, so here are some of the highlights...enjoy...

Pre-show...
Getting ready for the evening, with Rachel Sin and the ladies getting a bite at PLAY before the show (myself, Rachel, Erika Wark and Carrie from Blackbird Communication)

Back Stage...
Getting all the goodies ready...
Amber Watkins getting her suits organized, John Smith and I goofing off with our cameras, and John showing the girls of Murale his latest masterpiece...
Rachel Sin getting ready, Angie of Demu Label showing off her super powers, Julia of Fashion Keeper getting ready for the show and front row...
Designer line-up, Rachel Sin and Kania and Angie of Angie's Models getting the show started...

Merchant show...
Children modeling various shop fashions, including GAP kids, Growing Kids, Hook me up Threads and Moscatel...
Designers...
Micalla
Kim Picard
Rachel Sin
Kania
Illyria
Sukhoo Sukhoo
Stroked Ego
Anomal
Panache
Demu Label
Amber Watkins
Ralph Leroy

...and one last image from the talented Boakview...
So as I said before, it was a great evening filled with lots of beautiful people, wonderful fashion and a stunning backdrop (tanks, bunker replicas and aircraft always add a certain pizazz wouldn't you agree?)...however, it was also nice to be a part of an evening that not only displays Ottawa's talent but also enables a lucky few a foot in the door in this crazy world we call fashion...and you never know perhaps I was witness to a future supermodel/actress/celebrity in the making...that's it from me on this lovely sunny Monday...tomorrow I am off to Fredericton for a conference (CCA) but until then, happy new week everyone...
Love K

Angie's showcases are always a good time :) Too bad I couldn't make it this year because of the Toronto Clothing Show :/ Looks like a fun evening!

What a night! I still am laughing over Angie's 'chocolate-swirl' comments. I was blushing for her kids. Great pics!
