"life"...

I am forever trying to get my husband to write more...I know I am biased but I truly think that he has a way with words...so eloquent, so beautiful and so moving...so in a rare moment of vulnerability he allowed me to post something that he recently wrote in lieu of what is happening in Japan...I am sharing them here because I think they portray, beautifully and poignantly, what many of us are probably thinking but find hard to verbalize (I am of course making a big assumption here)...anyway, here it is...
"Life"
Written by: HD
"Dreams and hopes, struggles and obstacles, all lost in one soundless moment. Without form and shape it consumed existence itself. A region that was is no longer what is. Shambles of a culture, shreds of the past, echoes of the people, souls of the departed. A juggernaut of chaos that could not be stopped. Crude in design but a testament to perfection: it hit both hard and true. There is nothing left now, nothing except death and destruction: an absolute carnival of chaos. The world is empty of our ego; Humanity has been humbled once more. Our lease on life seemingly impacted, the Earth has made her presence known...

She is almighty and we are but marauders on her precipice; nothing more than a grain of sand in the continuum of time. Our epoch of actualization pales to her constant turn. She is alive, and we will be gone and dead long before she rests her still beating heart. Oceans will continue to churn, and tides will continue to roar well after the last of kind...

Circle back to the beginning of the end and there you will find both darkness and light. Constant companions to each other they sparred amidst the flickering realm of eternity. There was never a starting point, and there won’t be an end, but there will always be the forever of nothing. Nothing that was and nothing that is, nothing that will forever be. The nothingness came and took them all. 10,000 lives lost and a patronage broken. We will rebuild, and restake our claim but only under the gaze of her shadow. Tides will turn and the world will spin but nothing happens without her consent. Lives have been lost as the tragedy unfolded, people have died and people have cried...

There won’t be a moment, for now or forever when humanity can control this nightmare of nightmares. But there will be a time, when the music stops and the dance of humanity approaches singularity. Until then, live and learn, love and be loved. Watch the sun rise and the sky fade to pink. We don’t know how long, and we don’t know when but we do know that life is beautiful..."
