Obviously inspired by equestrian riding habits and frou-frou afternoon tea parties, John Galliano recently unveiled Dior's Spring 2010 Couture Collection to some mixed reviews. Personally I love the "nod" to Charles James' designs (http://www.dept.kent.edu/museum/exhibit/james/main.htm). Galliano himself has been quoted as being inspired by the late designer as a result of his (James) direct influence on Mr. Christian Dior himself. Either way I think the designs are magnificent, whimsical and downright pretty. I can only imagine the nutty mad hatter-esque tea party one would wear these to...I only wish...sigh...I included a few snapshots from the show below but if you really like what you see you can check out the rest of the collection here:http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/S2010CTR-CDIOR and a not so great review from "Running in Heels" here: http://runninginheels.co.uk/articles/dior-couture-sans-amour. Enjoy...Love K

“Writing is a form of personal freedom.
It frees us from the mass identity we see in the making all around us.
In the end, writers will write not to be outlaw heroes of some underculture
but mainly to save themselves,
to survive as individuals...”

I cannot express enough how happy and grateful I am to be part of this FABULOUS team! In December, the whole STARFISH collective got together in the studio of the talented Mr. Lawrence Callender (http://www.canvasculture.com/), who was our photographer extraordinaire for the day, and took photos for what would eventually be the "about" section on the new site. Besides the fact that it was a fantastic and fun day to hang out, goof around and take pictures, the results were amazing! I had the opportunity to style the shoot, which was really fun-especially considering I had the chance to tell everyone what to do--and they had to listen :-)!!! But in all honesty I cannot imagine working with a better and more creative group of people, who work so well together! I know I must sound a little cheesy but the truth is, I am being completely honest-I feel lucky and, more importantly, I feel inspired to work and play with this bunch! Thanks guys!
Below are some snap shots of the new site: http://www.eventsbystarfish.com/index.html
and some 'behind the scenes' pictures that I thought captured the day really well. *click on image to enlarge* Enjoy...

I realize that Rachel Zoe isn't a surprising choice when it comes to style icons-after all she re-invented the boho-chic look and made it a staple among celebs and socialites alike...but one can't help but admire (and attempt to re-produce) her signature looks and styles. Although Zoe tends to be portrayed as a bit "kookie" by most tabloids, doesn't mean that a girl can't admire her fabulous fashion sense...right? So in honour of my favourite fashionista, I made a little collage to pay homage to the stylist of the most style-savy stars! Enjoy...

At twilight they come out.
Like floating paper glide along lanes,
noiselessly dipping over hedges,
or fanning their ghostly way
around the houses, down the avenues,
ears and eyes set for the kill.

"Lady Winter has once again, kissed the ground with her frozen lips,
and covered the earth with her frigid crystals made of water, ice and longevity.
I sit and stare out of the frosted window,
and watch my breath accumulate on the glass.
I hug my sweater closer to my body,
as I try to wring out every bit of warmth from its non-existent soul.
while I dream of clear blue skies, warm sand under my feet,
and a light breeze as it ruffles through my hair and gently
kisses my skin..."
