Model Mayhem: Ottawa Fashion Week in Review

Fittings @ The Loft
It's been a crazy few days filled with fashion and Halloween fun and I only now have the chance to sit down and properly update my blog...so the anticipation for Ottawa Fashion Week started last Sunday at the LOFT, when I was asked by my friend Ali (who also happens to be co-owner of HUSH and the head stylist for OFW) to take some photos of the fittings and in turn, her in action...as an avid fashion consumer I happily obliged and to be honest it was just as fun as I thought it would be to be part of all the back-stage planning and mounting energy...
Ali, making a list and checking it twice...
Ali, Bruno (owner of LOFT) and Rachel Sin (Designer) in deep thought...
Models hanging out and generally looking gorgeous...
Practicing the "walk"...
Some more backstage goodness...
Media Launch @ Foundation
On the following Thursday, I was invited to the media launch for OFW...so with my friend Somiah in tow off we went to Foundation Lounge to mingle with some of the city's other bloggers, stylists, designers, photographers, reporters and general fashion lovers...the evening was a low-key classy affair, and although my camera (inconveniently) ran out of batteries (sigh)...I was able to snag a few photos from fellow Blogger Julie (of POPCHAMPAGNE) and Ming Wu (of Mingwuphotos)...thanks guys!

The EVENT: Ottawa Fashion Week 2010
Which brings me to the main event: Ottawa Fashion Week...this year the venue was absolutely stunning...I mean you truly cannot beat an art gallery in terms of housing a fashion event...and in Canada, the National Art Gallery seems like the obvious choice-the architecture is amazing and the lighting even more so...as for the show, it was really great to see some of the local talent...unfortunately I was only able to go one day of the event as a result of other engagements, but I still managed to get a good sense of event...the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming-afterall everyone was there in support of the creative forces in both Ottawa but also Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and beyond...I was sad to miss my girl Rachel Sin's show but I hear she stole the show! (wouldn't expect anything else :-) ...so that's that, Ottawa Fashion Week is officially over for now...and the city is quiet once again...for how long? Nobody knows...but I am sure we'll think of something to get those creative fashion juices flowing until the next time...until then, enjoy the photos...
