I know this is a little bit older-but I couldn't resist since it is holiday-appropriate! The lovely, Chanel Iman did a spread for H&M in November and besides it being super fun and gorgeous, I absolutely love the use of adorable accessories/props (i.e. masks and mini-top hat). Design and Inspiration, from an unlikely place...

A very good friend of mine recently sent me a link to a website, I can't believe I have never actually been to: Pottery Barn! (http://www.pbteen.com/products/dress-form/?pkey=x ). Although I love the store and I am almost always inspired (decoratively speaking) when I go in, it never actually occurred to me to go online! Anyway, after browsing some of the site I had to put up 5 images that I absolutely fell in love with-along with some of my favourite quotes. Notice the dress forms in each photo and how they are integrated into the overall space-I love it! What a great substitute for the traditional cork-based idea board. I will definitely have to get me one of these...maybe a birthday present from a generous soul? Hint hint...

Foxy Roxy...

I know that at this point in my life, I probably should be over ROXY (the clothing brand: http://www.roxy.com/home/index.jsp?clickid=topnav_home_img ) but the truth is I am not-and I will not apologize for it. I love their clothes, their ads, their perfume but most of all I love their advertising and brand identity development-clever clever clever. Plus they use A LOT of pink...not to mention images of beaches in Hawaii and other tropical paradise-like places-so really: What's not to like?

"Like I Give a Frock!"

Recently, as I was wading through the many wonderful and enticing isles of Chapters (the Barnes and Noble Canadian equivalent--where I literally feel like a little girl in a candy shop) I came across this fantastically creative book: "Like I Give a Frock"! It's the brainchild of Chloe Quigley and Daniel Pollock and it stems from their website: www.michigirl.com. The book is filled with "fashion forecasts and meaningless misguidance" and more importantly some of the most beautiful art I have ever seen. The illustrator, Kat Macleod is brilliant! The pictures are both super creative and inspiring. I posted a few images below, but this is definitely one of my top 5 fashion books! Great stocking stuffers...hint hint...

Seeing as I am not a winter person by any means, I need inspiration for the short days, long nights and cold cold weather. Therefore after perusing some of my favourite websites this morning, I came across these images from British Vogue (http://www.vogue.co.uk/ ) and was happy to see some winter gear. Dreaming of a 'Parisien' Day...in the summer...or spring...

I recently found an amazing web site: http://www.polyvore.com, which essentially allows you to design, put together and create a wardrobe, a style, a room---virtually anything you crave to create! That being said, when I looked out the window today and saw all the snow piled high, I was inspired to use this little gem to create a fantasy day in Paris-a la mode. I know it's a little childish to play "pretend" (I should technically be marking papers and doing intellectually stimulating academic work :-) but I can't help but indulge the creative little imp that resides within...Enjoy!

Sarah Jessica Parker: "Glamour-ous"-(pun very much intended...)

I picked up the latest issue of Glamour last night-mostly because Sarah Jessica Parker (my fashion muse) was on the cover-but also because I knew there was going to be a snowstorm today (and boy is there ever!) so I needed a distraction from the reality of it all...sigh I just can't seem to find the love for winter...will it ever come? Anyway, Glamour (and Sarah Jessica) did not disappoint! The visuals are great and the lady of the moment also gives some great fashion style tips. Enjoy...

On her personal style: “It’s just simpler,” says Parker. “I don’t buy anything trendy. I used to be more easily seduced by some momentary idea of what was fashionable. Now I’m slightly savvier. I still have the same ideas in my head about what looks good on me and what doesn’t.”

On how to discover your own personal style:“You have to get the idea out of your head that you can only wear what everyone else is wearing,” Parker says. “Then you’ll enjoy dressing more.”

A Sex and the City Sneak Peek...

I know it's still months away, but I am so excited about this movie that I just couldn't help myself and spoil the fashion surprise by looking up some promo and candid shots of the upcoming Sex and the City Sequel. I am not too sure how I actually feel about the story line (which to be honest I don't know too much about) but I am positive that the visual eye-candy a la fashion will not disappoint!
