Cafes and such...

It's no secret among the ones who know me that I am obbsessed with cafes and coffee shops. I absolutely love the European tradition of meeting and chatting with friends in the comfortable nook of a lovely space while sipping your favorite drink (whether it be a latte, tea, hot chocolate or whatever). This is one of the things that I will actually miss most about living in Korea, of all places-the cafes. Believe it or not but Korea has some of the most beautiful, most comfortable, cozy cafes I have ever seen in my whole life! And I have just discovered my absolute favourite one in Jeju city (where I live). It's called " Cafe Juang-e" and it's absolutely charming. They even serve tea in traditional British China teacups (saucers and all)...this is what coffee shops should be like everywhere-none of this styrofoam cup bullcrap! I fell in love with this place right away and, in true LoveK fashion, took pictures of almost every corner of the place...enjoy!

Since I promised to post konglish stuff now and again, I had to include this picture. It was taken in the City Hall area of Jeju City (South Korea). It's actually a very cute store, but I have to be honest...the sweatshirt is what really drew me in :-)

Famous Love Letters....

Given what has been happening as of late in our world-all of the environmental, political and economic disasters that seem to be on the rise-I have decided to put something a little more positive on the blog. I am not making light of what is happening in our world but I do feel that a little positivity goes a long way. Because of this, I wrote out three famous love letters by three very famous historical figures to remind us that even in the worst of times, there is always room for love...

July 6, 1806-By Ludwig van Beethowen

My angel, my all, my very self -- only a few words today and at that with your pencil -- not till tomorrow will my lodgings be definitely determined upon -- what a useless waste of time. Why this deep sorrow where necessity speaks -- can our love endure except through sacrifices -- except through not demanding everything -- can you change it that you are not wholly mine, I not wholly thine?Oh, God! look out into the beauties of nature and comfort yourself with that which must be -- love demands everything and that very justly -- that it is with me so far as you are concerned, and you withme. If we were wholly united you would feel the pain of it as little as I!Now a quick change to things internal from things external. We shall surely see each other; moreover, I cannot communicate to you the observations I have made during the last few days touching my own life -- if our hearts were always close together I would make none of the kind. My heart is full of many things to say to you - Ah! -- there are moments when I feel that speech is nothing after all -- cheer up -- remain my true, only treasure, my all as I am yours; the gods must send us the rest that which shall be best for us.

Your faithful, Ludwig

Paris, December 1795-Napoleon Bonaparte

I wake filled with thoughts of you. Your portrait and the intoxicating evening which we spent yesterday have left my senses in turmoil. Sweet, incomparable Josephine, what a strange effect you have on my heart! Are you angry? Do I see you looking sad? Are you worried?... My soul aches with sorrow, and there can be no rest for you lover; but is there still more in store for me when, yielding to the profound feelings which overwhelm me, I draw from your lips, from your heart a love which consumes me with fire? Ah! it was last night that I fully realized how false an image of you your portrait gives! You are leaving at noon; I shall see you in three hours.Until then, mio dolce amor, a thousand kisses; but give me none in return, for they set my blood on fire.

August 15, 1846-Gustave Flaubert

I will cover you with love when next I see you, with caresses, with ecstasy. I want to gorge you with all the joys of the flesh, so that you faint and die. I want you to be amazed by me, and to confess toyourself that you had never even dreamed of such transports... When you are old, I want you to recall those few hours, I want your dry bones to quiver with joy when you think of them.

being held when you need it most, or when you just feel like being held
feeling the warm rain on your face
giving up the window seat even when you REALLY want it
feeling sad for someone else's sadness
getting butterflies in your tummy even after being with somebody for years
being excited at the mere thought of seeing someone again
being silent in the same room and feeling completely at ease
feeling happy for someone even when it means losing them
not being able to imagine your life without the other person
doing nothing at all and still having the time of your life
wanting to give up everything in order to make someone happy
seeing someone after a long time and feeling as if no time has passed bewteen you
giving up your own comfort and happiness to make someone else comfortable and happy
no conditions attached be continued...

PS: Please feel free to add to this, I would love to hear what Love means to you!

More Japanese Fashion!

I just couldn't resist putting more of these fabulous images up-I can't seem to get enough of this site ( ) it's so addictive! The great thing about these, however, is that no matter how out-of-this-world some of these outfits may appear, people actually dress like this on a daily basis. I was amazed when I was in Japan at how much time and skill (not to mention creativity) goes into each ensemble! I have to say I was a bit of gawker when I visited, but who could blame me-the Japanese have a unique sense of style-no doubt about that!

Back in action!

I realize that I have been very neglectful of my blogging duties as of late, due to on-going illness (nothing serious just a re-occuring flu and such) and my school applications (fingers crossed!). But I am back now and have some interior pics to share from none other than my favorite style/interior site: This time the images are of Daniela Kamiliotis, who happens to be the vice president of the women's collection at Ralph Lauren. These were taken of/at her office in midtown, NYC. Needless to say, I would LOVE to have an office like this-so inspirational and quirky (I don;t even mind the clutter!) Here's hoping that one day...Enjoy!!!
